Last week a large banner stating ‘Free Palestine from Israel apartheid’ was hung outside the students union at Manchester University. However, the Jewish Society there had it removed within minutes of their becoming aware of it. The security staff at the University acted immediately after they were told.

There were also Jewish Society stalls at both Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University during Freshers Week (induction for new students) and efforts are being made to establish a Jewish Society at Salford University where a staff member is interested in helping.

This shows what can be done if students and academic staff take the initiative and act against those who would misinform and incite anti-Israeli militancy. (Information from Joy Wolfe and Dr Mervyn Harris.)
