Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is delighted to announce the launch of its new website spme.org. Dynamic and Intuitive, the new site will enable our current and future members worldwide to interact more efficiently as a community of scholars.

Asaf Romirowsky, acting executive director of SPME, observed that “on university and college campuses all over the world, academics are engaged in a furious struggle to influence public opinion regarding Israel and the Middle East.  Our new website will provide users with the most up-to-date information on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign and other assaults on academic freedom and integrity.

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is a grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact based civil discourse, especially with regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.

We welcome scholars from all disciplines, faiths, and nationalities who share our desire for peace and our commitment to academic freedom, intellectual integrity, and honest debate.

Since 2002, SPME has been bringing faculty together to combat the ideological distortions, including anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist slanders that poison debate and work against peace.  SPME is an independent, faculty-driven, not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], organization serving more than 50,000 academics.
