Assistant/Associate Professor

 

The Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina (http://www.cas.sc.edu/poli/ ) invites applications for a tenure- track position in Comparative Politics or International Relations at the Assistant or Associate level, to begin in August 2012. The position has been authorized as part of a University initiative focused on rule of law. Candidates trained primarily in Comparative Politics should accordingly have research and teaching interests that include issues such as state capacity building, democratization, fragile states, civil society, and transitional justice; while candidates trained primarily in International Relations should have research and teaching interests that include issues such as NGOs, human rights, and/or international organizations working in post-conflict/transitional settings. Applicants with research and teaching interests in the Middle East are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to junior applicants having Ph.D. in hand, a well-conceived and established research agenda, and evidence of teaching effectiveness; among more senior scholars, preference will be given to those with particularly strong publication and teaching records.
