The Leonard Davis Institute
for International Relations
The purpose of this fellowship is to provide an American scholar with the chance and up to $32,500 to come to the Hebrew University (Israel) to conduct research and/or prepare a dissertation for publication.
- Candidates for this position must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are interested in pursuing careers in U.S. academic institutions.
- Candidates must have already obtained their doctoral degree within not more than two years preceding their arrival in Israel.
- The choice of the candidate shall be based exclusively on academic merits.
- The fellow shall devote the year at the Leonard Davis Institute (at the Hebrew University) to subjects connected with Israeli foreign relations and/or Israel’s foreign and security policy.
- The fellow shall spend at least nine months at the Leonard Davis Institute.
- The fellow shall be guided and given a tutorial by a senior staff member of the Hebrew University.
- The fellow shall be provided with use of an office and office services at the Leonard Davis Institute.
- The fellow will teach a two-credit semester course on a topic related to modern Israel in the Hebrew University’s Department of International Relations in English or in Hebrew. The wage of this work will be paid to the fellow in addition to the scholarship.
- The fellow shall be expected to participate in the activities of the Leonard Davis Institute and initiate activity such as study days, workshops, international conferences, etc.
