Academics launch Internet campaign to combat
normalization with the Zionist Entity.

Qawim, Ghazza, 8 December 2007, 12:10. Dr. ‘Abd
as-Sattar Qasim, a well-known Palestinian lecturer and
academic, together with other academics, political
activists, and intellectuals from various Arab
countries, have launched a new Internet website to
combat normalization with the Zionist enemy state.

The site (No to Normalization/ La li-at-tatbi‘) carries
pictures of Arabs who hold meetings with Zionist
officials and features political articles and
discussion lists for readers.

Dr. Qasim told the press that his initiative aims at
exposing Arab normalizers who establish social,
political, and academic relations with the Zionist
occupation state. “Politicians are trying to lure
young men and women into normalization with the
Zionist entity by promoting trips, academic topics,
and various activities so as to get Palestinians to
accept increasing closeness to the Zionists.”

Dr. Qasim noted that money has been appropriated for
such activities on the basis of the Zionist notion
that normalization is the way to secure the permanence
of the Zionist entity.

Regarding the Palestinian situation, Dr. Qasim said
that there are two groups of Palestinians: those of
the West Bank and Ghazza, and those of the lands
occupied in 1948. The first group lives under the
military occupation and has its own set of daily needs
and concerns. The second group lives under the laws
of the Zionist entity in all aspects of their lives.

Dr. Qasim said that his website does not regard the
efforts of Palestinians on the West Bank and in Ghazza
to run their lives – such as importing food and other
daily necessities, or issuing statements – as a form
of normalization with the Zionist entity. Other
activities, however, such as taking part with Zionists
in conferences of whatever sort, do constitute
normalization.

Dr. Qasim noted that the Arabs rejected the Zionist
invasion and its state when it was set up. They
erected a ‘wall’ around it on the grounds that it had
stolen Palestine and was a criminal aggressor against
the Palestinian people and the entire Arab Nation.
They therefore refused to interact with it in any way
and on all levels and pledged themselves to destroy it
and expel the Zionist colonialist immigrants.

Dr. Qasim added that the Arabs completely isolated the
Zionist entity from its geographical environment and
continued to arouse people against it and raise
feelings of rejection among people in order to rally
Arab public opinion to the cause of armed assault and
liberation.
