SPME Austria was founded in Fall of 2006. From the 244 Austrian
subscribers to the Faculty Forum, most of them affiliated to one of
the Universities in Austria only a few are duespaying members. One of
the tasks for the near future will be to increase this number of
duespaying members.

SPME Austria has a good cooperation with Café Critique, a group of
political scientists, the representation of students of political
Science at the University of Vienna, the Jewish Community, the
internet review “Die Juedische” and others.

In May 2007 SPME Austria organized a lecture held by Mathias Kuentzel
at the Jewish Museum Vienna on “Islamic anti-Semitism” focussing
especially on the situation in Iran.

SPME Austria is co-sponsoring a Symposion “Die Islamische Republik Iran –
Analyse einer Diktatur” the islamic Republic Iran- an analysis of a
Dictatorship” to be held at the University of Vienna on September
29/30 2007.

Speakers are among others: Matthias Küntzel, Fathiyeh Naghibzadeh,
Gerhard Scheit, Wahied Wahdat-Hagh.
