Dennis Ross Has Advised President-Elect Obama and 3 Former Administrations

Obama during his presidential campaign.
The inaugural Distinguished Negotiation Lecture series at UT Dallas will feature Dennis Ross, former counselor and Ziegler Distinguished Fellow for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
The lecture is sponsored by the UT Dallas Negotiations Center in the School for Economic, Political and Policy Sciences. It will be held in the School of Management building, room 1.118, Nov. 20, from 4:30-6 p.m. Ross will share his experiences in international negotiation during the lecture.
For more than 20 years, Ross worked to bring about peace in the world’s most divided regions.
Under Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Ross served as a primary adviser on Middle East policy. As a special Middle East coordinator under President Clinton, he successfully negotiated the Hebron Accord of 1997. Ross also served as director of Near East and South Asian affairs on the National Security Council staff under President Ronald Reagan. Most recently he served as a foreign policy adviser to President-elect Barack Obama during his presidential campaign.
The Negotiations Center is designed to bring together scholars from different disciplines and to use the collected insights to inform negotiation practice through education and outreach. Director Dr. Rachel Croson believes this Distinguished Negotiation Lecture will bring valuable real-world negotiation expertise to the UT Dallas students, faculty and staff, as well as to the local foreign affairs community.
“Ross will bring a wealth of experience and a unique perspective on negotiation. He has been a participant in this generation’s most important Middle East peace negotiations. In this lecture he will share some of his negotiating skills, as well as his perspectives for the future of this region.” said Croson.
Ross serves as a foreign affairs analyst for the Fox News Channel and is a frequent contributor to the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New Republic and U.S. News and World Report.
He will be available to sign copies of his latest book, Statecraft: And How to Restore America’s Standing in the World.
