Iranian Textbooks:
Preparing Iran’s Children for Global Jihad?

As debates rage about Iran’s nuclear intentions, educational textbooks may serve as one of the more candid guides for discerning this regime’s worldview and ideology. The Center for Monitoring Peace in the Middle East (CMIP) has recently published the most comprehensive survey on this subject, and argues that Iranian textbooks indoctrinate students into the global jihadi mindset. These books depict a regime that divides the world into Manichean forces of “good” and “evil” that are destined to clash. To better clarify these and related issues, CMIP researchers Arnon Groiss and Shayan Arya will cover the report’s detailed findings as well as discuss the implications for the United States and the rest of the international community.

Discussants:

Arnon Groiss is the Director of the Research at the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace. Groiss’ career includes more than 30 years as an Arabic-language journalist and he presently holds the position of deputy director at Israel Broadcasting Authority’s Arabic Radio.

Shayan Arya is a member of the Constitutionalist Party of Iran and a Fellow at the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace.
