It is mistaken to suppose Israeli academics side with separatist policies in Israel. My visits to Israeli universities have convinced me that there is a genuine intellectual climate there that is reasonable and if anything recognises the need for positive discrimination in favour of Palestinians whose rights are not recognised through their national government’s policies.
