WORCESTER – Anti-Semitic incidents have been reported at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
According to informational emails that went out to the Clark University community Friday, a piece of paper was left at the proctor’s desk earlier in the morning in the Kneller Athletic Center that had anti-Semitic comments and drawings on it. The college held a forum later that day to invite discussion and unity, according to the emails.
On April 19, anti-Semitic graffiti was found in the Founders Hall elevator at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, according to informational emails sent to WPI students.
“This act of prejudice is reprehensible, it does not reflect the values of our institution, and it will not be tolerated,” the email to WPI students stated.
Additional programs and discussion groups were offered, and another forum will be held tonight for students, according to the WPI emails. Campus police launched an investigation into how the graffiti got there.
The local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People yesterday condemned the two anti-Semitic incidents.
In a statement released yesterday, the NAACP’s Worcester branch said any such expression is an attack “on all of us,” and applauded the institutions for “responding swiftly and appropriately.”
