January 25-29

Dear SPME Friends:

As we write this to you, the cities and towns in southern Israel are being targeted by Hamas fired rockets. Over 700,000 people in Be’er Sheba, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netivot, Sderot and Kiryat Gat, together with other cities and communities, are currently affected. The people of Israel living in these communities are doing everything to maintain a semblance of life and normality under these stressful conditions.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) is currently waging a military offensive to stop further Hamas activity and return security and normality to residents of southern Israel.

How can we extend our already strong support for Israel at this time?

JNF is there. In Sderot. we are building the indoor playground.
In Be’er Sheva, we are building the River Walk project.
We are committed to Blueprint Negev.

We know your contributions have been at the forefront of these projects but we must ask you now to show your support for Israel at this time by joining our Solidarity Mission to show the citizens of southern Israel that we stand with them. We understand the significant demands on your schedule, however, Israel and its people need to know that they are never alone.

As part of our ongoing due diligence, the Israel Relations Committee and Budget and Finance Committee has planned a Mission to Israel in late January. However, due to the current situation, we feel it is important to extend the invitation and travel to Israel as a Solidarity Mission.

The Solidarity Mission will begin in Be’er Sheva on Sunday night January 25 through Thursday January 29. The itinerary will include, Be’er Sheva, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Sderot, Ofakim, Givot Bar, Shomriya, Yerucham, Rehovot, Tel Aviv and will end in Jerusalem Thursday afternoon..

Please understand that the exact itinerary is subject to change.

Registration fees are $1000 (for 2009 annual $5,000 and over contributors, this fee is waived). Land costs (based on double occupancy), during the dates of the mission will be covered by JNF. Single Supplement is $500. You will need to make your own air arrangements and we ask that you please provide us with this information once you have booked your flights.

Please contact René Reinhard on Telephone 212-879-9305 ext 235 for further information and confirmation of your participation.

Please click here for the application form. Please complete it and send it via fax 212-861-2303 (together with a copy of your passport) by January 12.

Please join us and stand with Israel.

Sincerely,

Stanley M. Chesley
President
