Veronica Slootsky, MD
Dr. Veronica Slootsky graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Biological Sciences and Writing. She obtained her medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and is currently a resident in Psychiatry at the George Washington University School of Medicine. Her research interests have been diverse and have included work on the effects of dopamine depletion in the brain as well as combat stress reactions in Israeli combat soldiers. Her volunteer work has included organizing health screenings for refugees from Darfur, assisting with psychological assessments of Latin American asylum seekers fleeing domestic violence, and working with victims of terrorism in Israel. Currently, she is interested in pursuing a child psychiatry fellowship upon completion of her residency. In the future, she hopes to work in the field of Global Mental Health, in particular with refugees and children exposed to conflict zones.
