More Responses to UMass-Amherst Student’s Complaints

I agree with most of what was said. I disagree with the idea of starting with the chairman but strongly suggest that students start at the top, the president, and then see it work its way down (which publicizes the issue) to V P, Dean and THEN chair at the last. My experience with an outrageous case at UWO which started at the bottom and finished at the bottom with an ugly and threatening rebuke of the students (who wrote to the “professor” about his behavior and to the chair), from the chair and his buddy, thus ending the case-period. This convinced me that starting at the top is the way to go in all such cases.

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
