WATCH: Anti-Israel activists refuse to wear poppy to honour war dead

Yesterday we brought you the video of the anti-Israel (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) activist who admitted he would not be opposing the Ecostream store if it were Israeli-Muslim owned. Only because it was Jewish-owned.

While that sort of blatant anti-Semitism exposes the deepest, darkest sides of the BDS movement, another not-so-well known side surfaced this weekend in Brighton.

Self-styled “pro-Palestinian” activists outside the Ecostream store were repeatedly quizzed as to whether or not they would wear a Royal British Legion poppy, which serves each November to commemorate the lives of those lost fighting in World War I, and against the Nazis in World War II.

Unfortunately, as you can see below, no BDS activists would wear a red poppy, claiming they opposed war, and therefore the poppy was not for them.

But the poppy isn’t a “pro-war” symbol. It represents a defence of this country, and indeed the wider West, against tyranny.

Some opted instead for the white poppy, a clear “pacifist” statement to them, though we wonder whether or not they realise the Peace Pledge Union, who invented the white poppy, were in favour of the appeasement of Adolf Hitler.

It would be unsurprising if they did indeed know, and felt comfortable wish such facts, after all, their fight in favour of a ‘one-state’ Palestinian solution is remarkable similar to that of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem circa 1937.

Indeed Haj Mohammed Effendi Amin el-Husseini, who represented the Palestinian Arabs, was a known Nazi collaborator.

Plus ça change.

Note: Those wearing poppies in the video are the pro-Israel counter-demonstrators.
