SPME Announces Call for Officer and Board Nominations for Terms 2011-2014

Nomination Deadline December 15, 2010

In accordance with the newly adopted SPME Bylaws, SPME President, Peter Haas, and Immediate Past President and Nominations and Elections Chair, Ed Beck, are announcing the call for nominations for the Vice President for External Relations and seats on the SPME Board of Directors for three year terms beginning January 2011 through 2014. The Nominations and Elections Committee consists of Judith Jacobson, Columbia University and SPME Co-Founder and Vice President for Internal Relations and Co-Chair, Columbia University Chapter and Donna Robinson Divine, Smith College and member of the SPME Board of Directors.

The Vice President of External Relations is responsible for working with the President, and Executive Director on issues of Development, Alliances and Partnerships, Co-Sponsorships and inter-organizational relations. The Vice President for External relations serves as an Officer of SPME and is a member of the executive group of the organization.

Members of the Board of Directors are involved in policy and decision making based on recommendations from the Officers; the Executive Director, Chapter and Task Force Chair and other SPME functionaries to insure the mission of the organization

In accordance with the newly adopted By-Laws, all Officers and members of the Board must be annual contributors to SPME.

All nominators and nominated must be current academic year contributors to SPME (July 1, 2010-Present). Instructions for meeting this standard can be met by going to www.spme.net/donation.html Candidates may self-nominate.

The Nominations and Elections Committee will review all applications and present a slate of candidates for approval to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting January 16-18, 2011 in Miami. It is hoped that nominated candidates will attend this meeting. For information on attending that meeting, please click here

To be nominated, letters of application should:

1) Contain full contact information including institutional and department affiliation of the nominee

2) Statement of interest in serving in an SPME Officer or Board Member stating your qualifications to serve

3) Statement of vision for SPME

4) Evidence of being a current academic year contributor to SPME.
