SCHOLARS FOR PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ANNOUNCES ITS
FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
JANUARY 16-18, 2011 IN MIAMI, FLORIDA

THE TOPIC OF THE CONFERENCE WILL BE:

FIFTY YEARS OF THE SPECIAL UNITED STATES-ISRAELI RELATIONSHIP (1962-2012)
WALT-MEARSHEIMER IN PERSPECTIVE 2011

The Conference will be co hosted by Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies at the University of Miami

The focus of the conference will be on importance of the last 50 years of the special relationship between the US and Israel and to explore directions and possibilities for the future of the relationship. The Walt-Mearsheimer controversy has done much to erode this special relationship. This conference goal is to explore ways and means to overcome the impact of Walt and Mearsheimer.

The second goal of the conference is to bring SPME faculty from around the world together to participate in and become involved in determining SPME’s future as we expand around the world and as we move to create an infrastructure for scholarship and advocacy.

A call for papers with information on the hotel, registration and conference fees and deadlines will be released in the August SPME Faculty Forum.
