SPME President, Prof. Peter Haas, Case Western Reserve University, announced today the formation of the SPME Task Force on Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions as a response to the increasing calls for academic boycotts of Israeli scholars and academic institutions.

Dr. Beck asks that faculty members with interest and experience in dealing directly with BDS issues who wish to serve on this task force are welcome to apply by sending him an email of interest to [email protected] Agreeing to serve on this committee to date is Dr. Ruth Contreras, Vienna, SPME Secretary, Co-Editor of the Faculty Forum and German SPME Faculty Forum and Chapter Leader, SPME-Austria.

Professor Sam Edelman, SPME Executive Director will be representing SPME on a newly formed working group of the Israel on Campus Coalition, to also consult and exchange information on BDS issues with respect to Israel.
