With anti-Israelism and anti-Semitism and other acts of anti-intellectualism, historical revisionism, fabrication and falsification in the form of propaganda and polemics appearing in our academic and professional meetings, it is important that SPME members have a chance to attend, challenge or present original scholarship to reverse the ongoing threats and encroachments to the disciplines and professions.

To this end, this new section welcomes submission of Announcements and Calls for Conference Papers where it is likely that the complex issues of the Middle East may be addressed in an academic or professional setting, whether sponsored by a department, university, academic or professional society. In addition we welcome announcements of conferences and programs that our network members may want to attend in order to become educated and engaged.

The guidelines for submission of this information to are that the program be academic or professional in nature and sponsored by an academic department, university, academic or professional association/society. Academic and professional activities will take priority over non-academic and community events in terms of posting.

Posting of an event, conference or opportunity does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or SPME relationship with it in any way. Quite the contrary. Posting of this information may be for the edification or our Network to simply be aware to decide individual responses.

We look forward to receiving this information and posting it from you all.

SPME

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
