Between 2002 and 2007, the federal programme “XENOS – Living and Working in Diversity” is funding around 250 projects that are geared towards permanently reducing xenophobia and discrimination in society. XENOS projects are positioned at the interface between schools, training and the working world and are targeted at promoting peaceful co-existence within society and at strengthening the structures of civil society.

The Conference will provide the opportunity to present the results achieved in the project areas “Companies and Training” and “Intercultural Training in Local Administrations” and to compare and discuss experiences gained by other EU countries with programmes aimed at combating xenophobia and racism.

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
