Anti Boycott Statement from Technion International Board of Governors

  • 0

Issued 6.4.08

The Board rejects all attempts to boycott Israeli academia, including the pro-boycott resolution of the University and College Union in the UK. This resolution is contrary to the principle of the Universality of Science, which prohibits all forms of discrimination in connection with international scientific activities.

Instead, the Board calls for increased collaboration between Israeli academics in general, and Technion researchers in particular, with scholars wherever they may be, and encourages the Technion management to cooperate with other academic institutions, in Israel and abroad, in their struggle against boycott
activities.

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
