BDS Monitor Live Speaker: Andrew Pessin

Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College and Campus Bureau Editor of The Algemeiner. In addition to his academic work he has authored several philosophy books for the general reader and two novels, including most recently an historical murder mystery based on the life (and mysterious death) of the famous philosopher René Descartes. His desire to teach about Israel was spurred by his deepening apprehension that the hostility to Israel expressed on so many campuses is ultimately a manifestation of antisemitism, as well as by incidents on his own campus. The latter convinced him that his institution sorely needs a program in Jewish and Israel Studies, which he is now working to establish. More information about him and his work may be found at his website, www.andrewpessin.com.

The webinar discusses Pessin forthcoming volume entitled, Totalitarians at the Gate: the BDS Assault on Free Speech and the University

SPME

Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
