Mid-semester sees BDS crises unfolding on campus, on the floor of the US Congress, and within Israel itself. Universities dissembling about classroom targeting of Jews and Israelis, and protests celebrating Palestinian gunmen deemed “martyrs,” are among the notable developments. But the vote to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee also revealed a near total split between Democrats and Republicans over antisemitism. Meanwhile, Israeli firms are threatening boycotts of Israel over proposed legal changes. These developments are part of an increasing upheaval over BDS and antisemitism.

BDS Monitor Live Speaker: Alex Joffe

Dr. Alex Joffe is editor of SPME’s monthly BDS Monitor. He is an archaeologist and historian specializing in the Middle East and contemporary international affairs. Educated at Cornell University and the University of Arizona, he is also a Shillman-Ingerman fellow of the Middle East Forum. Among other topics he has written extensively on the BDS movement and contemporary antisemitism.
