Haters Put Amazon’s Collaboration With Israel Up For a Vote at Annual Shareholder Meeting

Amazon have announced their annual meeting of shareholders, to be held on on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

From their document titled Notice of 2022 Annual Meeting of Shareholders & Proxy Statement:

We believe that effective corporate governance includes year-round engagement with our shareholders and other stakeholders. We meet regularly with both large and small investors to discuss business strategy, performance, compensation philosophy, corporate governance, and environmental and social topics. This direct engagement helps us better understand our shareholders’ priorities, perspectives, and issues of concern, while giving us an opportunity to elaborate on our many initiatives and practices and to address the extent to which various aspects of these matters are (or are not) significant given the scope and nature of our operations and our existing practices. We take insights from this feedback into consideration and regularly share them with our Board as we review and evolve our practices and disclosures.

Items 5 through 19 are shareholder proposals that will be voted on at the Annual Meeting only if properly presented by or on behalf of the shareholder proponent. Some of these proposals contain assertions that we believe are incorrect, and we have not attempted to refute all of the inaccuracies.

Here is item 6 to be discussed at the meeting:

Ahead of the meeting, a group called Athena – which describes itself as “a coalition to stop Amazon’s injustices—spying on us, gentrifying our neighborhoods” – recently held a Facebook live session of Amazon workers and investors discussing resolutions they’ve introduced that will come to a vote.

The relevant part starts at around 13:35:

Here are some excerpts:

Besides the obvious and predictable lies, what is interesting is how they decided to speak anonymously at least partly because they claim to be concerned for the safety of their family in Gaza. Why is that so? Are they worried that Hamas might not be too happy they are working at a company whose product is used by Israel , and might therefore harm them?

While the worker is anonymous, I do know they are cousins with antisemite Suhair Nafal, who gloated about it on Facebook:

It should be clear by now that the haters are attacking us on all fronts.
