JOY A. LAND received her MA (1971), Candidate in Philosophy (ABD, 1973), and PhD (2006) degrees in Islamic Studies from the GE von Grunebaum Center for Near Eastern Studies, University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Land is the recipient of many grants and fellowships and has taught at two and four year colleges in the United States and abroad. She has presented papers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Morocco, and Israel. She has also edited conference proceedings and published many articles. Her interests include North African Studies, Minorities in the Middle East, Jews in the Islamic World, and Women’s Education in Tunisia. Dr. Land is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of History at the University of Connecticut.
