Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) announces a conference on “The Islamic Republic of Iran: Multidisciplinary Analyses of Its Theocracy, Nationalism, and Assertion of Power” to take place at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center under the auspices of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland OH on November 8-10, 2009.
The Conference is meant to examine from a number of academic disciplinary perspectives the domestic and foreign policies of the current Iranian Republic, especially as these policies reflect attitudes and ideas of the “other”, whether internal or external. Proposals are encouraged from disciplines such as ethnic studies, history, political science, religious studies and sociology.
Proposals, to include a CV and an abstract of no more than 400 words, must be submitted by September 1, 2009. Submissions via email are encouraged. Submit to:
