Nominations Are Now Accepted for the Office of President of SPME Board of Directors: Deadline January 24, 2012, 5 PM

The Board of Directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East seeks nominations for the office of President beginning February 1, 2012, for a period to be determined by the Board.

The Board will select the successful candidate at its Board meeting on January 29, 2012 in Atlanta.

Nominators and Candidates must be Faculty affiliated with an academic institution, research facility or think tank and contributors to SPME.

They must be committed to the mission and goals of SPME.

Candidates must submit a statement of qualifications to serve in either office. The statement should include references: to a history of contributions to SPME; understanding of SPME’s mission, goals, objectives, programs and services from an international perspective, aspirations for SPME growth and development and a statement of personal availability to these positions.

Any other material that is relevant to the candidate’s ability to assume a leadership position will be greatly appreciated.

The SPME President is the chief officer of the Board of Directors of SPME, a 501(3)(C) not-for-profit educational charitable corporation incorporated in the State of Pennsylvania and registered with the US IRS.

The President oversees all the activities of the organization wherever in the world it has chapters and programs offered in SPME’s name. Along with the other officers of the association the President enforces policies established by the organization for implementation by individual members, committees, task forces and chapters.

The SPME President is responsible for insuring the supervision of the Executive Director and managing the day to day administrative, as well as programmatic affairs of the organization.

The SPME President or his/her delegate is the official spokesperson for the association.

The SPME President agrees to operate in accordance with the appropriate local, state and federal laws which govern the corporation and the official by-laws and policies that are established by the Board.
