Telos Press Publishing was awarded the First Prize Gold Medal in the Religion category for Jihad and Jew-Hatred, by Matthias Küntzel, in the prestigious Independent Publisher Book Awards. The book has previously won the London Book Festival Grand Prize in 2007. He is a political scientist based in Hamburg, Germany and Research Associate for the Vidal Sasson Center for the Contemporary Study of Anti-Semitism at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is a member of the board of Directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East.

This award is conducted annually to honor the year’s best independently published titles that exhibit the courage, innovation, and creativity to bring about change in the world of publishing.

Telos Press Publishing is very proud of this recognition for an enormously important book. Nearly all of the credit goes to the author, Matthias Küntzel, for his excellent volume, as well as to Jeffrey Herf, who provided a superb introduction. Thanks also to Colin Meade, who provided the translation, and to the staff at Telos for a job well done.

Jihad and Jew-Hatred breaks the silence around the central role of antisemitism in Islamist terrorism. If you have not yet read this book and you are interested in exploring the mind-set of hatred that led to the crimes in New York and Washington on September 11, 2001, this book is a must-read. Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) is not-for-profit [501 (C) (3)], grass-roots community of scholars who have united to promote honest, fact-based, and civil discourse, especially in regard to Middle East issues. We believe that ethnic, national, and religious hatreds, including anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism, have no place in our institutions, disciplines, and communities. We employ academic means to address these issues.
