Ballot Campaign Launched within UCU
Today sees a new development in the dispute over an academic boycott of Israel.

UCU congress voted to back the boycott campaign, but without determining a mechanism to decide the issue.

One – largely pro-boycott – group in the UCU has strongly opposed a ballot of the membership on the issue, and has managed to block a ballot, so far.

Today, a campaign for a ballot is launched by two members of the Union: Jimmy Donaghey and Jon Pike. http://ucu-ballot.org/

We want the ‘UCU Left’ to stop blocking the direct expression of members views.

We want a vote.

Please sign our petition (UCU members only, of course). Please do this now.

Please read our website: http://ucu-ballot.org/

Please circulate it amongst colleagues, on branch elists and pass it on to people at other institutions.

Please send any comments in support of a ballot to info@ucu-ballot.org

We employ academic means to address these issues.
