Esha Momeni, an Iranian graduate student at California State University-Northridge, has been released from detention on bail. Momeni, 28, was arrested Oct. 15 for an alleged traffic violation after filming a documentary on the movement for equal rights for women in Iran in the framework of her academic studies. She had been held in solitary confinement in Tehran’s Evin Prison.

SPME had petitioned the government of Iran to release Momeni.
