Prof drops case against Canadian Jewish Congress

York University professor David Noble has dropped a libel lawsuit against the Ontario region of the Canadian Jewish Congress, which he had said suggested he was anti-Semitic.

Noble, who is Jewish, had filed the $25 million lawsuit in 2006 against the Congress, the York Foundation, Hillel of Greater Toronto and the United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto for their criticism of flyers he wrote accusing the university of pro-Israeli bias.

Noble, who could not be reached for comment, has not dropped his libel charge against York and the other groups.
